Google Research has opened Deep Review to everyone. It’s an AI agent that reads a long document, such as a contract, a proposal, a financial report or a research paper, and flags logic errors, numbers that don’t add up and contradictions between sections. Free users get two reviews a week.
What it does
| Deep Review | |
|---|---|
| Best for | Contracts, proposals, financial documents, design docs, research papers |
| Checks | Logic gaps, maths errors, inconsistent terms across sections, unclear wording |
| Files | PDF and plain text for now |
| Free limit | 2 reviews per week (more with your own Gemini API key) |
| Your data | Not used to train Google’s models, but stored for one year |
| Where | research.google/deepreview |
Google says the system splits a document into parts, checks them in parallel and suggests fixes. In earlier testing on 26 maths and computer-science papers with 29 known errors, its predecessor found 89.7% of them, compared with 55.2% for Gemini 3.1 Pro used normally.
Should you use it?
For a second pair of eyes on a long document, yes, especially since it’s free. Two cautions. First, the one-year storage: don’t upload anything confidential that you wouldn’t want held on Google’s servers. Second, it’s a reviewer, not a lawyer or an accountant. Treat its flags as questions to check, not final answers.
