Anthropic, the company behind Claude, may go public at a lower price than expected. According to Reuters, investors at Anthropic’s investor day this week discussed a valuation of about US$1.5 trillion for its planned November share sale, down from the roughly US$2 trillion floated before.
Why the number dropped
It isn’t because the business is shrinking. Anthropic told prospective investors that third-quarter revenue rose 45% from the previous quarter to US$16.8 billion, and that it was profitable on an adjusted basis. The problem is the comparison: in the second quarter, revenue had more than doubled. Some investors wanted that pace to continue.
| Revenue | Growth vs. previous quarter | |
|---|---|---|
| Q2 2026 | US$11.6 billion | More than doubled |
| Q3 2026 | US$16.8 billion | +45% |
What it means for Claude users
Nothing changes today. Claude’s plans and prices stay the same, and an IPO doesn’t change how the app works. In the longer run, a public Anthropic will face pressure to show steady growth every quarter, which usually means more paid features and closer attention to pricing. Anthropic hasn’t commented publicly on the valuation talks. The figures come from Reuters’ sources and Anthropic’s investor presentation, and could still change before the sale.
